Billy Idol mourns passing of past manager

Former Billy Idol and KISS manager ‘Wild’ Bill Aucoin died on June 28 of surgical complications from prostate cancer. He was 66.

Aucoin was responsible for discovering KISS in 1973 and turning them into the wild fire- breathing, makeup-wearing band they are today. He also managed Billy Idol for eight years back in the 1970s-80s.

“I am saddened and quite down about ‘Wild’ Bill’s passing on the 28th of June,” Billy Idol wrote on his official website. “Firstly I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Billy Idol rumored for Aerosmith post

Billy Idol’s been back in the news lately, rumored to be in the running to replace Steven Tyler as the Aerosmith frontman.

In late 2009, the band announced they would hold auditions for a new lead after Tyler left the band. Lenny Kravitz and Paul Rodgers were mentioned, but Idol seemed to get the most traction.

However, and unfortunately for Idol, things have changed….Tyler is back in the game, plans to tour with the band again, and Idol isn’t on the list anymore - but he’s still in the news!
